Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults
(RCIA)
is a gradual journey of many steps and stages. This
journey prepares for and leads a person into new
life in Christ which then continues throughout all
of life. It takes place in four periods or
stages. Three rites also take place during the RCIA
which mark the beginning of each new stage of the
journey. The
1st period is the Inquiry Phase
during which time persons are free to explore the
faith of the Catholic Church. It is also a time of
basic evangelization. When ready, and if a
person chooses to enter into formal preparation for
the sacraments of initiation, he/she participates in
the
Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens. This
Order in the Church prepares individuals for the
sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and First
Eucharist. (Look for upcoming articles which
continue to explain the RCIA process).
Do you know anyone
who has not been baptized and is asking questions
about our Catholic Faith? Have you been baptized in
another denomination and are seeking to become
Catholic? Are you a baptized adult Catholic desiring
full initiation (First Eucharist and Confirmation)
in the Catholic Faith?
If you know anyone
who is seeking information about the Catholic
Church, encourage them to call the parish
office 248-542-8720
during the summer months or
Faith Formation office at 248-398-1743.
